Those critics who say that this album isnt good are just clearly not into rock. This album may be a bit slower than most but its truly punk rock. Its one of my faves as well

If you're new to the Ramones and are looking for classic Ramones punk (ala Blitkrieg Bop), you'll be better served to start with the Ramones debut album. But the Ramones really came into their own on this one (especially after the controversial End of the Century). This is the first album that emphisizes Joey's genius song-writing ability (check out She's a Sensation) and the band's true musical talent. From the opening track, We Want the Airwaves, to the album's original-release final cut, Sitting in My Room, this album rocks. A great blend of smoother Ramones (The KKK Took My Baby Away) and classic punk (You Didn't Mean Anything to Me). I had to buy from iTunes because I wore the grooves out of the album I bought after it's original release in 1981. A must for any Ramones afficianado.

When I bought the albums Subterranean Jungle and Too Tough To Die, the inside pamphlet told me that in these albums, they were going through a bad period, and their albums End of the Century and Pleasant Dreams had been absolute failures. It highly discouraged me from ever buying Pleasant Dreams. Eventually, I bought Pleasant Dreams and I was not disappointed. In fact, I thought that it had been better than Road to Ruin, which was a great album. Songs like "This Business Is Killing Me", "All's Quiet On the Eastern Front", and "We Want the Airwaves" are all some of my all-time favorites. Great job, Ramones.
  • wow!

for a kid from a small town who grew up listening to AOR and rock/pop singles on AM and FM this album opened my eyes and my musical tastes. the music and the offbeat humor were both appealing, and this is one that will stay in my collection forever.

After the first four Ramones albums this is the one i listen to the most, every song on this album is great except for "It's not my place (in the 9 to 5 world)". Some of Joey Ramones best vocals appear on this album and some really heartfelt pop tunes many of which were writen about how Johnny Ramone had stole Joeys girl. Needless to say Joey was inspired and wrote most songs on this album many which became classic Ramones tunes such as "KKK Took My Baby Away". If thats not enough there are quite a few rare bonus tracks which are pretty cool. So in conclusion this is a classic pop punk album that any rock fan can enjoy, listen for yourself and Gabba gabba Hey!

in my opinion, this album is THE pop-punk. I love it. however, in Hey Ho Lets Go Ramones book, Ramones said that they didnt enjoy working with the producer, because they thought the producer was bit too soft for punk rock. i disagree. i love this album.
