  • What can we say

I do believe that we all need to know is that this album was directly sent from God. I mean, where else would it come from? if you listen to his lyrics I'm sure that you will agree. Neil has been through everything and has certainly become very tuned in,(although I admit that with the amazing quantity of songs that he has written he must have been tuned in a very long ago),. The guitar work goes straight to the gut where it brings out emotions that only a a very few can come even close to. I've been listening to him since 1967 and believe that his guitar effort on this one is truly remarkable. He gives his fans everything that he has got and in my mind has always been misrepresented as a folk/rock artist when he is indeed a soul artist. God love you Neil and thank you.

Let me say at almost 18 minutes, Ordinary People is just not long enough! Although, in my 4 minute drive to work, it actually takes 2 1/2 days to listen to the whole song. But when it ends, it always surprises me that it is over. Keep it on repeat.

Neil Young is a singular wonder. Of course that's no surprise to anyone who has followed his career, even from a safe distance. Chrome Dreams II is just one more classic on the heap. It's hard to say if CDII is vintage NY or, if say After The Goldrush (or take your pick) was way ahead of it's time. Their release dates could be flip-flopped chronologically without anyone raising an eyebrow. In 2008, while NY's contemporaries release self parody after self parody it is an immense tribute to himself that Chrome Dreams II is so ripe, prime NY at his honest and immediate best. And don't shy away from the 2 loooong trax here, Ordinary People and No Hidden Path. Neither song seems even a heartbeat too long or indulgent. Despite his vast sucess over the years, NY remains, truly, a man, a troubador of the people. Just another guy at the end of the bar, with his wife at the supermarket, walking his dog through the town park, waiting for his car to get fixed at the garage, NY is keeping it real folks. Not that anyone should be surprised, somehow, I was.
  • Excellent Neil album

This is a must for Neil fans, very classic Crazy Horse sound, with horns on the Ordinary People. No Hidden Path is actually better for me than OP. I got this at my local public library, props to them for carrying it. If you're even just a casual Neil Young fan, I think you'll enjoy- if you're lookin for hits, this might not be your cup of tea.
  • Best Neil Young Album? I Beg to Differ...

All Music Guide gave this album four stars. The Observer and Mojo both gave it five. Neil Young's latest record, Chrome Dreams II, seems to be his greatest record. I, however, have to question this theory. My musical tastes include rock, rock, and even more rock. Basically, I like mostly rock. All types of rock. Progressive, Hard, Blues, you name it. iTunes put this album under the genre of rock, but I'm not sure. I don't know if this album really is rock. Not even soft rock. Pop, maybe? The thing is, Neil Young has failed to grasp the sound of rock and this album shouldn't really appeal to most people. Just because two songs are over ten minutes long, doesn't necessarily make this rock.
  • Ordinary People!

great album, Ordinary People is possible Neil Youngs greatest song of all time, just that song alone is worth the $10.99, I would pay $50 just for that song, that's how good it is

Chrome Dreams II is more proof that Neil Young rules. While it's not a classic, it definitely is worth a listen especially "Dirty Old Man", "Spirit Road", and "Shining Light."

Spookyhorse said most- so I will be limited, but say I was slightly dissapointed due to my super high expectations, nonetheless 4 stars. Ordinary people worth the price of admission. Like all songwriters, all their songs on their albums are picked from various times, era's, etc, and not just woven together in a studio in a week mostly. But I will tell a story fast- The original chomedreams Cd bootleg was given to me 10 yrs ago, I didnt know what it was, just some cool versions of Neil songs I knew- so I find out Chrome 2 was comin out and did research, and well, I have the original too, what a gem- and never knew I had it- always lovd it- so I put it in my Itunes, and it automatically shows as Chrome dreams, which i find interesting. Sorry for long email and no review. But I still cant believe I had chrome dreams for 10 yrs and didn't know.I listened to powderfinger accoustic over 200 times and counting- oh and the concert was great
