Live - In The Shadow of the Blues is better than the new 2013 Live in Japan in my opinion, but check it out anyway, you can tell as these bands get older, there voices start to go, although Cloverdale's voice still sounds great, did not know he is 61 years old, that is great he can still sing that well? Great to see some of the old bands still doing great, I saw Van Halen last summer and David Lee Roth did not sound close to what he used to, still thought they were a great band, carry on men of no age, you all can still rock!
  • This is GREAT, but missing one of their best songs ever, "Best Years"

Like almost all bands, Whitesnake is better in concert. Rock hard!
  • Great Live Album!!!

Quality is top notch. Coverdale's vocals are clean, in tune and better than the late 80's. The guitar work is stellar. I always though Reb Beach was saddled by Winger's obnoxious vocals. With Coverdale he sounds like a real shredder now. Aldridge drums are like the cannons I remembered. For any Whitesnake fan or a fan of live rock, this is a must buy for the collection. You can feel the high energy level!!

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this CD. A lot of acts have tried to bring back to life music from yester-year, with varying degrees of success. That John Sykes is not on this live recording is too bad but Coverdale scored huge with Beach and Aldrich. Good selection of music with a fairly raw feel. If you liked Whitesnake back then there is no reason not to check this out.

I know everyone is so excited that he can hits those notes, but if anyone cares to notice the Live album is tuned down quite a bit. Listen to Still of the Night studio and then listen to this version. People get old, but even tho it's tuned down, it sounds good.
  • ALL HAIL MR. COVERDALE AND COMPANY!!!

Great performance from the snakes. Reb Beach (Winger) and Doug Aldrich (Dio) are smokin' with their guitars, Uriah Duffy (Travers & Appice) lays down a good bass groove, Tommy Aldridge on drums ('nuff said), and of course Mr. Coverdale. Stand out tracks: "Bad Boys", "Slide it in", "Judgement Day", "Aint no love in the heart of the city", "Burn/Stormbringer" where Aldrich simply amazes you with his guitar. BOTTOM LINE THE SNAKE IS ALIVE AND WELL!!!
  • Great Record

This is a great record. Not sure it's all live, but it is still very good. I have seen Whitesnake a couple of times in the past few years and David's voice is noticibley worn. The vocals are definitely overdubbs, but the overall product is great. His band is fantastic and the new songs are a fun blast from the past. Today's bands just don't have the fun or talent of the old hair bands. Enjoy this one, it's worth the purchase.
