Yeah, this is the original recording of the album. As a huge Whitesnake fan, I'm happy to see it available, but some would prefer the American version with Sykes, and some remixing, and compression. But all thesee songs still rock.
  • DO NOT BUY!! There is another version avail e with better quality!

For some reason iTunes hides some of the albums from an artist when you search an artist. They seem to either remove them or hide them to get other versions of the same album to sell. I suggest doing a search for the album title if it’s an old album or going into you iTunes library and using the see all albums from this artist area. There are at least two other versions of this album that sound much better. Don’t get screwed over. Do some research.

Do not download. Disappointed at the very low volume level. Full blast in my car and it’s half the volume level of any other song. I thought at first my radio had crapped out, but no, it’s this recording.
  • European mix...this is it

Make no mistake about it, this IS NOT the US version with John Sykes and Neil Murray. This IS the European mix done by producer Martin Birch. You can tell by the track Gambler, there is a voice that echo's back lines after Coverdale has already sang them, like "victim of circumstance" then the echo back of Coverdale singing "circumstance", and this happens several times with other lyrics in Gambler. This isn't the only difference in the Euro version and US version. The US version obviously has John Sykes blistering guitar solos, such as the one on Slow an' Easy and Love ain't No Stranger. In my opinion, the US version sounds better. In the Euro version there are sounds that sound out of place, such as a click clacking sound on Gambler, and many of the Euro version songs sound hollow and slower than one's on the US version. You have been warned...download at your own peril...to your ears.
  • Whitesnake’s finest hour

For me, the US version of this album has always been the crown jewel of the Whitesnake catalog. A European mix of this release exists without John Sykes or Neil Murray. This is the record that began the band’s transition from blues rock to a more 80’s oriented hard rock. This is essentially a bridge between the self-titled 1987 blockbuster and excellent early releases like Lovehunter, Ready an’ Willing, and Saints & Sinners. You get the best of both worlds here. Sykes brought a flashier muscular guitar sound that blended well with Cozy Powell’s rock solid drumming. Elements of the blues still exist, such as on the Zeppelin-esque Slow an’ Easy. However, make no mistake, this album is a rocker. Standout tracks include Slide it In, Spit it Out, Love Ain’t No Stranger, and Hungry for Love. Coverdale’s lyrics are rife with double entendres here making this a fun record. Dust off your old denim jacket and crank this one up.
