This is an excellent compilation of singles, and B sides from one of the greatest alternative rock bands to come out of the 80s.

Perfect album with some great sound by Johnny and Andy some songs are lyrically lacking but nevertheless I give it five out of five!
  • Third best album by the Smiths

This is a near flawless collection by the Smiths, containing most of their classic singles and a smattering of other classic tracks as well. Sure, there's a couple of clunkers on here, but iTunes won't allow a 4.5 star rating so I went with 5 stars. Honestly, if you're a Smiths noob start with Hatful of Hollow, the Queen Is Dead, and this album. Everything else you can explore at your leisure.

I remember having this album in high school along with black celebration from Depeche Mode , back in 88 , it's been that long since I listen to the whole album in its entirety, and the experience was amazing . Highly recommended album.

  • Don't bother with the iTunes album reviewer

Not sure what the iTunes album review at top is referring to when it says that Louder Than Bombs features "several cuts from The Smiths". The only song the debut album has in common with this one is "Hand In Glove", and they aren't even the same mix (the track here has a fade in/out at the beginning and end, for example). So no need to worry that you're buying the same thing twice. Also not sure why the reviewer would make the "overlong and unfocused" remark either. It's a singles collection, what do you expect? Of course it's a bit random, but it also compiles the best non-album singles by the Smiths. You'd really have to search pretty hard to find complaints with this album or their other studio albums, and I certainly don't have any. One of the most essential, witty and melodic alt-pop bands you'll ever find. If you don't already have this (and I don't know why you wouldn't), get it now and play it often.

and the rest is history. I never looked back because the road of Steven Morrissey and The Smiths is a road that looking need not happen.

"Unloveable" is so down it's up! The Smiths were not only the best band from the eighties, but they were funny as well!
