I still have the 12" vinyl version and fans are missing out on the the awesome pictures from the inner gatefold and the lyric insert. It would be really cool if these could be included via pdf or other. Anyhow, the music is incredible, far surpassing the movie soundtrack. Love it.

Only problem: there's no reprise for Science Fiction/Double Feature!
  • Probably the best Rocky Horror Cast

This may be the best cast of Rocky Horror, with better Rocky, and Dr. Scott then I've ever heard. I loved this version of Eddie's Teddy and Hot Patootie, and Science Fiction Double Feature, and I've been listen to it for a week strait!

I LOVE the movie and I really like Richard O'Brian but this version of the Time Warp is definitely better than the movie version. I really like Tim Curry and he is just plain old AWESOME. And another reason this soundtrack is so awesome is that it is complete (the movie soundtrack never put on the cd or iTunes "The Sword Of Damocles" or "Planet, Shmanet, Janet"). AWESOME SOUNDTRACK.
  • Compared to this, the film is dreadful.

Brief comparisons: I'll never understand why the dead-panning, blase O'Brien took the role of Riff Raff away from the amazingly energetic and talented actor/singer Bruce Scott. I cannot stomach the wispy-tendrilled vocals of Susan Sarandon. B. Miller gives the voice of a 'singer' to Brad. This recording is in every way superior to the film for the simple reason that the stage production was true to the era of science fiction double features, and the sounds of popular music of the time period. I was lucky to see this production at the Roxy, with Curry, Scott, Haness, Miller, Meatloaf, Milford: these people were *performers* and not film actors. These singers hit notes, use vibrato, and play against the horns with verve. Forget the tepid film vocals: this is the real thing and will knock you out.

I had this vinyl record when I was a kid and loved it! I'm so glad I found it here. I love the movie soundtrack too but the stage cast recording has a lot more energy I guess. The only thing I can't figure out is where did the Science Fiction/Double Feature (Reprise) go? It was on my vinyl I'm sure. It would be nice if iTunes could add it. Thanks again!

To me, the Roxy cast version of Rocky Horror has always been definitive for the fan who really loves the music. I like the movie, but the movie's music has none of the life and vibrancy of the Roxy cast.

This is the best Rocky Horror Cast assembled for the stage production. For those who prefer the RHPS movie version - stick to the movie soundtrack. This is hands down the hottest musical arrangements, the best background harmonies, and the most authentic rock and roll sound recorded for this show, period. Tim Curry is Fierce as all hell, and the Riff Raff and Magenta can (gasp!) actually sing the hell out of their roles. Listen to them rip out the Time Warp. Janet's blaring voice is a little grating for my tastes, but still a nice strong alternative to the airy, non-vocalist stylings of Susan Sarandon. Get it.
