  • Unique voice as a songwriter

Dave Carroll has a very unique voice as a songwriter--commenting on contemporary life a la Brad Paisley, but with a lyrical style all his own. If you like singer/songwriters and the folk/country scene, you'll like this album from a fresh new voice.
  • FINALLY!!! Someone who's using their fame to benefit others...

I first heard of Dave Carroll like the rest of the world --- after United broke his guitar. I have to admit, the song was catchy, it struck a chord with all of us because of how the airlines have abused "Customer Service" (a serious oxymoron in the Airline industry) and just because we could relate to having been there ourselves. I followed Dave, for the most part, solely for the United Trilogy. I figured, I had to see how it all ends. After that, well, he's just another artist who's just another one hit wonder, who's gonna be forgotten --- it is just a matter of time. Today I got an email from Dave. Dave WHO? I don't remember who this guy is... so I clicked over to find out more (It was obviously not spam, so I gave it professional courtesy of a look-see). Oh, yeah, the "United Breaks Guitars" Guy... what's he up to now? As I watched the video for "Everyday Heroes" my whole attitude towards him shifted. The song is incredible --- but Dave, the artist, isn't just griping and complaining, he's actually trying to shift our focus off ourselves and on to the people we should be appreciating more. In light of the 9/11 tragedy, "Hero" has taken on a whole new meaning. Firemen who run INTO fires, into danger... deserve far more credit than they get. And Dave is here to challenge us to see that. Policemen who walk INTO the line of fire.... who risk their lives to save the lives of others... deserve more than the griping and complaining they get from us when we've been speeding and got caught. (Newsflash: Next time, try NOT SPEEDING.... it's not the cop's fault you were a lead-foot.) Dave is here to remind us of the gallant job they do in protecting and serving the community. And even though it's brief in the video, there's the 911 operator's who have to hang on for dear life while someone else's world falls apart and the Emergency room doctor's who have to make snap decisions to save lives.... True Heroes, one and all. Dave has stepped above the "It's all about Me" glamour of modern rock-stars. He had his 15 minutes of self-glory (RE: United and his mangled gibson) and now he's out to shine the light on others more deserving. I say ---- ABOUT TIME someone used their fame to benefit someone other than themselves. It's an impressive song, it's an even mmore heart-wrenching video (guess the money from the United trilogy afforded him a better Music Video budget), and it's well worth dropping the $$$ on to listen to on your Ipods. Better --- Buy the album and say thanks to an Everyday Hero out there.... tell them Dave remdinded you of their tireless service.

Not to echo everyone else who has commented, but I never would have found this album if United hadn't broken your guitar. Nice and easy going, really like the music. Good purchase! Also I was flying delta the other day with a particularly impolite cabin crew. It made me think of your song.
  • Thanks United Airlines!

Love this album, and love Dave Caroll and the Sons of Maxwell... GREAT MUSICIANS. So I say "Thanks United Airlines!" for breaking Dave's Taylor guitar as it inspired the kind of song that we can sooo easily relate to, and got their other music out there for everyone to enjoy! Hopefully Dave is singing all the way to the bank (or to the guitar store to get several new Taylors) - rock on!

It's been years since I've purchased an entire album without having heard a single song beforehand. All this on the basis of his United Breaks Guitars. Not one of these tunes is a disappointment! Some of them, in fact, I have listened to dozens of times over the course of a week - and I'm still not tired of any of them! What a gifted artist Canada had produced with little fanfare. I can't wait until more of his creations are available on iTunes!!!

Would have never listened to David Carroll / Sons of Maxwell if it was not for United Breaks Guitars. Good songs and very classy guys.
  • Glad United broke your guitar

If they had not, I might not have ever heard your music. I bought the album and I love it! I love his voice and the stories in the songs. He has feeling in the songs that move me. I want more!!! I want more Dave Carroll. Seriously, sorry about the guitar, but live the music. BTW, I'm a flight attendant for another airline. ALL AIRLINES need to take a lesson from this. I am embarrassed at the way our customers get treated. But I have no authority to do anything than offer you a drink or a pillow & blanket! Please Dave...please, please write and produce the other 2 songs. Maybe you could find other customer service issues from other industries to write about just for fun. All customer service had declined. But keep writing and producing your original music. You are a real talent. Hope to see you on my airline!!!

After watching Dave's video (United Breaks Guitars), I first wrote an email to United Airlines telling them that I would not be flying with them until they reimbursed Mr. Carroll for the damage to his Taylor guitar....and then had to hear more of him. Great talent.....hope he keeps producing and can't wait to see the next "United" video! By the way, my Martin HD-28 won't be flying with United either!
