When I first heard about this album, I didn't really know about it. When I forst heard it, I was instantly hooked. A lot of people say that in order to actually listen to it, you have to be on drugs. I've never done any sort of drug yet I've listened to it like 10 times already... in its entirety! I'd definitely give it a listen. The while thing. It may be an hour and four minutes of pure noise, but it's an hour and four minutes of AWESOME noise.

I guess 6.99 is the right price for Lou's giving the finger to his record label. I read back in the 70's that half a million copies of Metal Machine Music were returned by angry record buyers. I'm sure where ever Lou is he's still laughing.

This is not even music. This sounds he's using an electric saw as a musical instrument into an amplifier while cutting guinea pigs and rabbits at the same time.

Lou did this album as an all time, never before done, I-don't-care-about-my-career, fans, art, celebrity,reputation maneuver to kick his contract right in the font. He pulled off the fraud thanks to a few people out there..the type of person that can see beauty and artistic genius in a blank canvas. I would rather have had a blank album. The best part: liner notes. spectacular. "My week beats your year". Love it. The worst part: (besides the aural torture?) the worst is the fact that Lou resurrected this hoax years later. Could he still have been angry after all those years? If he was, then my year beat his decade. Miss you "Mr. Reed". :)

This album does not disappoint. Great for teen clubbing parties, road trips, and even useful for lulling the elders and stressed parents to sleep near the end of the album. It's the most consistent album I've ever heard, with all four songs being equal joys to listen to. For only $4 you would be crazy to turn down this classic.
There is a method to this madness!
