Her next single, Like A Virgin, was the one that shot Madonna into superstardom. But Lucky Star certainly got her off the launch pad. A catchy tune with an infectious hook and that celestial synth swirl, Lucky Star was a dance-pop masterpiece that has stood the test of time. And credit for a huge part of its success goes to its video. The simple concept put all of the focus on Madonna herself. Madonna's personal style had already been suggested in her previous videos, but it was fully realized here. From the bare midriff and the fingerless lace gloves to the "more is more" philosophy regarding accessories, this look was emulated by millions of girls (and lots of boys just discovering their fabulousness).
