While on tour, I found this album in the discounted vinyl at the most excellent Euclid Records in New Orleans. I took a chance on it because A) Produced by Tony Visconti & B) Drums by Dave Grohl. When I finally got home & put it on the turntable - BAM! I was knocked out by how incredible this record is. First off, her voice is fantastically strong & can seemingly do anything. Second, the songs are great - lyrics, melodies & performances. Lastly, the production makes seemingly disparate songs & song elements cohere nicely. I immediately went to her website and purchased the rest of her catalog. That's an indication of my highest recommendation.
  • Grohl's Brought Out Kristeen's Best

Kristeen Young's new album is brilliant from start to finish. Calling her a Kate Bush riff is like calling Kate Bush a Carol King rip-off. It misses the point, and ignores the innovation in favor of seeing only the past. On top of all that, Dave Grohl's production has done what it did for Ghost BC and many others -- bring out the best in the artist and leave the rest on the cutting room floor. The intensity is up, the live experience is replicated. If it's just noise to you, you're too old or too young.

Really great, unique album. Definitely has a Kate Bush feel at times, and a British feel in general.

People giving bad reviews don't want to hear good lyrics or something different. they're used to the trash out today my 4 yr old nephews would write.

I am at Kristeen Young's show right now. this is literally the worst show I have ever seen. the maximum amount of screeching with the minimum amount of talent or appeal whatsoever.

Dave Grohl is into some interesting projects these days with Sound City and the Zac Brown sessions projects, but this doesn't make the grade that other projects have. It's not horrible, but I truly don't think we need a Kate Bush knockoff
