I've been following Kristeen since her early appearances at CBGBs. Brining to mind Laurie Anderson, Siouxsie, and Kate Bush, Young still manages to hold her own, and has been giving us some of the most wonderfully dramatic and exciting music you're never heard (shame on you!). The songs THIS IS THE DAWN OF MY D-DAY, LONDON CRY, 9, and MIXED KIDS showcase her unique sound. Young is slowly carving her mark on the music world . . . this is a must own.

When I saw her, I loved the drums. They were turned up loud and you could feel them in your body. You know, it was that kind of feeling. I bought the CD and was sad that the drums were so secondary. I do, however, like some of the CD although the lyrics to some of the songs aren't good. I think it is her voice that is amazing though. Favorite songs "Kill the Father", "London Cry", "9".

Saw her last night in Atlanta opening for Morrissey (as did many others who have posted here). Even though the crowd couldn't quite figure out what to make of her at first, she dug down into the performance. The songs on this record sound great live. She finally started to win people over about 3/4 of the way through the set. She hypnotised me by the second song, though. Her retro-glam make-up was really cool, and her range was incredible. She effortlessly nailed the really high parts of her songs. I hope she continues to make records this adventurous. The music industry needs more artists like Kristeen that push the boundaries a bit and try new things. Or at least new combinations of old things.

I just saw Morrissey in concert last evening and Kristeen Young opened. I had never heard of her but I was very impressed by her sound. She and the drummer are talented and musically diverse. I would compare Kristeen's sound to that of Kate Bush. She isn't a copy cat, but if you are looking for a comparison that is as close as I can get. I am going to buy this album because of that show.

I have never heard of this artist before last night opening for Morrissey. This chick has some of the best vocal range and the layers to her voice are incredible. I agree with other comments about Kate Bush- way to go Kristeen and baby Jeff the show in Norfolk last night was awesome!
  • Hauntingly good

    By that's my joint!
I saw Kristeen open for Morrissey and at first I was really taken back. Then I really dug it. Her voice is incredibly powerful and the overall sound of her keyboard and "Baby" Jeff's drums matched up very well. You'll either love it or hate it. I love it!

I never heard of Kristeen Young before, but she was the opening band for Morressey here in Phoenix last week. It was nice to hear a new sound.... I purchased her CD at the concert and I love it. As my friend put it.. " If you put Kate Bush, Lene Lovich, Tori Amos in a blender with a dash of Cindi Lauper and Bjork - you have Kristeen Young.
  • A Truly Bombastic Music Experience

Whats there to say about this album really it's Kristeen Young. Shes a polarizing music figure but if you can overcome the fact that her music is unlike any other you find a really great music experience here. From truly well done soft passionate tracks to pulse pounding rock, Miss Young is truly an artist to be heard.

Kristeen Young doesn't sound like Bjork at all; she sounds much more like Kate Bush. The previous reviewer needs to get a new musical education. Anyway, this is a great record: ambitious, original, and balls-out, which is more than I can say for most of today's music.
  • Björk's Depressed, Jealous, and Angry Little Sister

An award-losing performer. Bar none. I saw her open for Morrissey, and she made the audience feel like they were going to faint. Her recorded music isn't that great, but her live performance is like having garbage thrown in your face. She tried to move around too much like Steven Morrissey during the performance, and she was wearing what appeared to be my dead grandmother's drapes. Her vocals were too much like Björk and too little like good; it sounded like she had oven mitts on when she tried to play the keyboard, and the poor drummer had a sickening hat on and he looked like he needed a Jamba Juice. She didn't speak the whole time during the concert except for one lame cliché political comment right in the middle of her dead, rotting set that she performed for the crowd. I hope she didn't quit her job at Bebe just to go on tour with Morrissey. Lori definitely wouldn't let her back on the team after that sloppy job she did with the mannequins. Two stars for having better music recorded than her nasty live performance that she offers.
