Reviews

  • A step away from the usual that sounds just good as everything else!

I sort of missed the train here, but this is a great album. It sounds a tad different from the usual stuff. It's got the intense yet intricate guitar riffs, and passionate, political lyrics that set Rise Against apart from the usual alt-rock music that over-saturates the market today. This time around, however, it's got an odd, mildly punk sound to it almost that is almost reminiscent of pseudo-punk bands like Good Charlotte, but with that special flavor that makes Rise Against unique.

People they re-released this album this is their first album of course it doesn't sound like new rise against... If you knew anything about the band you would know they are just paying tribute to the album that started it all! Nice work guys!

The original album is largely considered their best by the punk community, and these bonus demos add an extra special something to the experience. Of course they are not the final mastered version so they can't be as good, but more than make up for it. They somehow sound even more urgent and sincere and provide a different yet still similar experience to the original. In more tangible terms, they use different guitar distortion, Tim's voice is a little rougher (better), and the solos aren't there. Also off Fat Wreck's website the mp3 is $8 (but not backed up like on iTunes), and the CD is $10+shipping.
  • Rushed?

It seems as if they didn't put the deserved time into this rerelease. A couple of updated recordings with modern Tim singing the same songs would have been perfect. I love this album, but the rerelease doesn't contain everything I would expect.

It's nice to see them pay tribute to the album that truly launched their band.
