This is one amazing album. I bought this when it 1st came out. Recommended by a friend. Along with Gerry Mulligan and Art Pepper, Stan has always been my favorite sax player. The duets are truly amazing with Stan playing like never before. Who else could get a guy like Jimmy Rowles to come out of retirement to make such a wonderful album? Jimmy's voice is so smokey you better pull the battery in your smoke detector!! Elvin Jones plays with brushes on most cuts which only adds to the mellow sound of this classic recording. I was crazy enough to cut out Downbeat reviews and tape them to the record sleeve....5 stars for sure! Jon Hendricks of Lambert and Ross fame does a great song with a style he pioneered that involves singing the instrumental parts to jazz classics. Joined by his family and even Stan's (I think) wife. As my friend Nick said......."don't play this before midnight". A true treat and a classic like no other.
