This album is a must buy for anyone interested in the less cheese pop side of electronic music. Released in the mid 1980's, this album was a far cry from the other material being fed to the masses at the time. Its still a welcome treat on my iTunes playlist when i want something completely unique and emotional on a grey/rainy day. If you know the story of this band you will find that this best exemplifies their songwriting as a group as well as their performance together. The songs include both acoustic and electronic elements and overall some polished and complete. Still worth a listen, and a BUY after almost 30 years.

This album represents the perfection of Clan of Xymox's dark, beautiful, dream-nightmare sound. Highest recommendation.

Oh my goodness, is there anything negative I can say about this album? Ummmm...Can't think of anything. Clan of Xymox may not be for everyone, but if you like darkwave, new wave, or any other kind of wave, do yourself a favor and buy this. Medusa can't be beat for blending the fun 80's pop sound with sweet, tragic melancholy. COX is great for any mood you're in and it's very good for driving. Even if you don't like it at first, I'm 99.9% certain that it WILL grow on you like hair on a chia pet, as it did for me. Highlights of Medusa Theme I - Pretty, lots of atmosphere. Instrumental. It's pure castles, mist, and Wuthering Heights. Medusa - Understated awe. Very eerie, Wonderful song. Michelle - Fun song with awesome drums. Louise - Oh, LOUISE! How I adore this song. Sung from the perspective of a lover who got burned in a bad way, "Louise" is utterly heartwrenching, and it's mostly in the way it's sung. It also has a great melody that will get stuck in your head for weeks on end. Back Door - Another good song. Sung with total passion. Clan of Xymox definitely needs more love and recognition, so buy this album. Right now. Dooo iiiittt.
  • A Dark Masterpiece

This album totally changed my life. At 16, this is the first work of art that approached my depth of spiritual isolation and gothic despair. The songs on this album haunted me with their otherworldy beauty for many years. Not at all a poseurish, creepy darkness, but more a solemn quietude, every song with a silver lining tinged with hope of sunnier days to come...and they eventually did. This album helped me through the darkest and most turbulent days of adolescence and today is a powerful reminder of how music can comfort and sometimes transform the soul. Listening to this album today, it's heartbreaking how miserably overlooked it was and continues to be. Not only for goths, (I never really was one), this is highly recommended for alt-rock and synthpop music lovers as well. A true gem.

Clan Of Xymox's best album. Rich textures, sweeping, romantic melodies. The last 30 seconds of "Back Door" are worth ten dollars alone. There's really not another album that sounds like this one. This and their debut are the only Xymox albums worth the money IMO.
  • One of their best by far!

This collection has some amazing moments. Not to be missed by any Xymox fan. It had a very limited release when it came out. Glad to have an important rarity added to the ITunes Library.
