I don't care what anyone says about the music being boring, or this being a weak link in Howard Shore's long line of film music. When I first saw the movie, the music hooked me from the very first cue. It's summery, with a sci-fi twist; this is the exact atmosphere the movie presents. I was thoroughly impressed by all the tracks (except Roger Waters).
  • Sure, The Film Stinks, But Shore Remains Great...

This may be the weak link in Shore's discography, but it's still a very good score, even if the film is made by the man who nearly brought The Hobbit to a stand still -- Robert Shaye! Okay, this score does at times sound similar to E.T. but that's only the first track or so, but from then on we hear Shore's excellence. It may be a subdued score, but Howard knows how to write his music, and just listening to it is satisfying enough. It may be a kiddy score, but it's a great kiddy score. My only gripe with this collection is track 16, it doesn't belong on here... at all. It's the black sheep. Overall, this score may not be Shore's finest, but it's still great. It's wonderful to see such a diverse artist who can handle a film's music to make it great even if some had low expectations for it -- me. Buy this, especially if you have a kid and want to slowly introduce them into the world of film composing and the magnificent Howard Shore.

Howard Shore did it again. The score is excellent but the album would be better off without Roger Waters.
  • Magical Score

Howard Shore lives up to expectations, and lifts this film into another realm of magic with his fantastic score for The Last Mimzy - a very unexpected surprise. If you missed this in theaters - download it right now for a throwback to the kinds of magical films they don't make anymore!

the movie wasnt as good as i thought it would be...... and i really didn't understand there music selection for many songs. When i saw this i had just seen Music and Lyrics with the Amazing music. So i was looking forward to good music in this film... but it wasnt so good.

I'm only here for Track 16 by the incomparable Roger Waters! And what a track it is!!! It's a culmination (in song) of just about every musical project Roger has ever created! Pink Floyd fans can rejoice that Roger is clearly having some tongue-in-cheek fun with this project (a la George Harrison's 'When We Were Fab') while at the same time creating a song that stands firmly on its own (with 'Echoes' of the past.) Now if only they'd release it with Quadrophonics! CRANK IT UP!!!
