What a gift these wonderful artists are to us. This concerto is so moving, so passionate and lyrical. Ms. Hahn's virtuosity makes it hard to listen to other violinists. Words don't suffice.

In my opinion, Hilary Hahn is the best violinist of her generation and quite possibly ever. I've certainly not heard any others that rise to the heights that she has achieved musically and technically. She combines musical maturity well beyond her years with the most accurate playing I've ever experienced. She's literally never even a quarter-tone off. Having heard her in live performance, I can say that this is not just studio perfection. She just does not miss anything. I've always loved the Barber concerto, especially the final movement. My previous standard for this glorious concerto was Itzhak Perlman, but Hahn's rendition surpasses even that. She takes the finale at blazing speed without undercutting the wonderful musical elements. And in her hands, the coda is nearly hair-raising, one of the most exciting few seconds of any piece of music I've ever heard. The Meyer Concerto is absolutely gorgeous, a wonderful piece of Americana.
Be sure to check out James Newton Howard's score to the film "The Village." Hilary is the featured soloist in this achingly beautiful music.
A Barber Convert

I bought this album a while ago and just recently gave it a thorough listening. The Meyer pieces are wonderfully played, and the Barber concertos are exquisite. I don't think I've ever heard a more beautifully moving piece that the second movement, Adante. Hilary's playing on this piece brings out the saddness and fluctuating emotion of this truly awesome work. I would likewise recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of modern orchestal music.

Ms. Hahn, who has as fascinating a mind (I've had dinner with her) as she has violin soul, is at the top of her game in these two works. The Barber is one of the great classics, and I wish the Meyer would get more play time. The reason I'm buying a new copy is that my old CD (with the notes, etc.) grew legs and "walked off", no doubt with someone else's assistance. Can't do without it!! Her's is my favorite reading of the Barber — hands down!

Hilary Hahn plays the violin with such perfect and emotion-laden intonation, such purity and passion... you must listen to these pieces. The Barber violin concerto has always been a favorite of mine, but Hahn takes it to the next level... the second movement is so melodious and full of emotional impact. Highly recommended!

As a violinist myself, I truly admire Hilary's preciseness, proffessonalism, and overall ability/talent. But I think that she doesn't use enough passion in her pieces. She doesn't use the expression within herself but only the printed letters on the page. She is extremely talented and can certaintly express a piece of music. But can she discover the message, depth, or reason behind every note and bring it out with each bow stroke? No.

The works on this album are fantastic and wonderfully played. However, this simply should not be 14 bucks. I'd just as soon get the cd and have good liner notes to read. Disappointing.

I have turned into a raving fan of Hilary Hahn. She's extremely talented, skillful, precise, and plays without, seemingly, any imperfections whatsoever. Her interpretion of the Barber concerto is magnificent, and the Meyer concerto (specifically written for her) is amazing. I highly recommend this album if you're into modern music.

Another great offering by Hilary Hahn. Despite some reviews which are obviously jokes, this cd is definitely worth buying, but dont buy the CD itself; buy it in parts from the bottom and save 8 dollars, I believe. Despite one reviewers' comments, I think that a violinist is normally judged by her (or his) sound rather than their appearance, and besides, she's quite pretty.

Don't ever take that review. That person must have some serious hearing impairment to say that Hilary Hahn has a terrible tone. Trust me, someone may not like Hilary but no one can ever EVER say that her tone or technique is bad.
You would not be disappointed with Hilary by this album. That's for sure.
