Faust and company fail to make a convincing go at the Op. 70 and the Archduke. The playing is too aloof and shallow, and the ensembleship need work. Alexander sounds as if he's playing on a pianoforte, but the delivery does not quite match the period. Avoid this recording and stay with your Beaux Arts Trio recording instead. -Bz
