Amber Headlights

I was surprised that most the reviews of this album rated it as just so-so. I just bought it and I love it. I think it shows once again that Greg Dulli is a master musician/lyricist/singer. I also recently bought Saturnalia (The Gutter Twins) and Twighlight (The Twilight Singers). Both are great also.

Disclosure - I am a Dulli Fan. While I was looking forward t this album for some time before it came out, I was not prepared for how much I enjoyed it. NOr was I prepared to be presented with an album that years later I would still love so much. 5 years on and songs like Domani and Cigarettes still blow me away each time I hear them. Duli's solo work is a perfect blend of the raw days of the Whigs and the smooth polish of the Twilight singers. Also - The tour that accompanied this album was amazing,

If you were as big of a fan as I was of the Afghan Whigs - this will harken you back to some very fond memories. I can't recall a singer out there today that is so unique; the minute you hear his voice you know it's him. If you are not a fan and on the fence about this album, give it a few listens...you'll shortly want to go and buy everything he's ever done.

It's got something for every mood.

If nothing else buy it for the song Cigarettes.

I am a huge Afghan Whigs, Twilight Singers fan. I have all of their music. This album has been on repeat for the last 3 days. Great dynamics in the music. Very glad to see that Dulli is still creating great music.

This album and it's maker are criminally under-rated. Buy it now. I swear to you, you won't regret it. Then buy every Afghan Whigs record. Then all the Twilight Singers. Then get ready for Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan's side project, The Gutter Twins. All praise due...

This cd is one of the smoothest Mr.Dulli has done since the split of the Whigs.

I must admit that I didn't like this album the first time I heard it...listened to it again a few months later and totally loved it...it's cool that they finally decided to put "Domani" on a full-length album. The feel of this album is pretty similar to that of "Powder Burns," all the songs are pretty tight (or should i say, so tight..) with the exception of "get the wheel"...it just seems a little forced.

Nuff said.
