Want to feel laughter, some sadness, and love all while listening to a thoughtful poet whose message still resonates? This collection of music still holds up to the test of time and is good for any audience. Thanks, Don.
  • Timeless touches of the human spirit

These songs slightly missed my glory days...but were the heart of my older siblings...so I learned to love them at home rather than as radio constant. Each one of them touches you...I mean really leaves a mark. I can’t imagine my life without these beautiful songs. The heartfelt lyrics and the sound of a real guitar take me back home to the best times of my family. They have been important touchstones in my life...listen to them a few times and I believe they will become yours too. Such a real and almost haunting sound...even Elvis when he seem to be searching at the end found McLean’s music a part of him...just to to hear them and not find one that touches your soul.

This song reflects the best of Don McLean - soulful lyrics woven in a contemporary (at the time) ballad. Simple and elegant .

I am only part of a handful of the newest generation (I am 19) that love these kind of songs. The 70s is the best era for music.

If you ever went to CTY, then you remember American Pie from the dances. And you probably loved it. I know that I do, as well as the rest of this album.
  • And I Love you So

Don McLean's version of this song is clearly the definitive, but it is such a great song it allows some variation in interpretation.I had first heard this song done by Perry Como, which is done beautifully, and I bought that as well as Elvis's version. All three have the core of the song, but each artist does it so distinctively.Fans of McLean know his hits and some not so well known hits, but the perfect thing about McLean is that he is not a misery master, he touches your heart and does it so very well.
  • Bringing back the 70's with American Pie

If there was ever a song that stirs up so many thoughts of the 70's for me this one is it.. For me the 70's produced some of the best music ever written. I guess it helps that the 70's and 80's were my glory days... but I absolutely love American Pie.. such a classic... There wasn't anything I didn't like about the 70's except for the VietNam war. I loved the styles, I loved the music... I loved the times...
