Reviews

  • Great local music

Just bought this album. The New River Ranch recording was done 1/2 mile from my home on the banks of the Octoraro Creek. It was very rustic in 1962 done in the outdoors. This was real country music. Thanks to Ola Belle Reed for making this a Mecca for early stars like George Jones, Johnny Cash, Louvin Brothers, Carter family, etc.

I'm 72 and have been a fan since I was 17. The first songs didn't sound great because of the audio equipment back then. His voice got deeper with age. Not sorry about getting this one.

i don't understand the negative comments about this recording. it is a piece of history and an absolute pleasure to listen to. i heartily recommend this recording. more artists should do the same and release live performance recordings - not just the grateful dead and johnny cash.
  • Johnny would be ashamed

This is a perfect example of the greed of the music industry.
