I suggest you reject any reviews that reject the sound quality of this album because they are clearly searching for the mastered sound of a contemporary rather than the imperfected beauty of authentic music. What is real here is the music you would write on a page, on the heart of a nation, and the tune that speaks to a widespread land of Americans. Whether the sound quality is ideal or not is irrelevant. This is music that marches to the tune of the American spirit. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
  • Great music, terrible sound quality...

Sidney Bechet was a master, a master of the Jazz era. Unfortunately the sound quality of these digital files leave a lot to be desired (not the fault of Apple); some of them sound like they were transferred directly from warped 78s - scratches and all. No attempt was made by the recording engineers to eliminate noise and warble.

Perfect song to fall asleep to, to read to, and to work to.
