  • Concept Album

Was turned onto this by a friend and ended up buying the album. It's a great work by Paul and the PERRO group and needs to be listened to together all the way through. At least a side at a time. Side 2 - Sunrise to the end is one of the top album sides of its era. IMHO.

Timeless in it's statements and music. Rightly or wrongly I've always considered this album part of the Airplane catalog. Think of the importance, the art and the intent of the most popular music of this era as compaired to the commerical swill in the top 40 now. Even with all its turmoil, this remains the last Good Time America ever had.

I now see the error of my taste in music and realize that I really haven't enjoyed this album since I first heard it in the early 70's. Apparently it's a turkey and only worth $2 to $3.
  • The Best Album to come out of the San Francisco acid-rock era.

I wore out two copies of this album on vinyl and still listen to it over and over now that it is digital. As others have pointed out, this is the cream of the psychedelic era musicians who clearly were totally “into” the music they made. The lyrics are stupid/childish at times, but the emotion will carry you away. Terrific melodies, and superb musicianship. This album should be listened to straight through (although, I must confess, I deleted The Baby Tree as too cutesy.) Like Abbey Road and a handful of other, this is an album you want to put on and listen through to the end.

Loved the album when it came out and still enjoy reminiscing from time to time about an era that is long gone. I still love Jerry Garcia’s work on the ‘Starship’ last cut. To me, some of his best…….fills the song with some of the best kickass lead guitar ever. I was never a deadhead but I loved the Airplane……still do.

One of my All Time Favorite albums, out of the 10,000 plus that I own! I adore every track, and have since 1972, when I first heard this. The stellar line-up of SF musicians, the great concept and story, and the beautiful tunes, all add up to a perfect moment in time for Paul Kantner and cohorts. "At first, I was iridescent. Then I became transparent. Finally, I was absent."

This has stood the test of time. Kantner was nominated for a Hugo award for this effort. ( si-fi award)

Who whould buy this turkey. This is a "No-Light-Basement-Bong" record. Once again I tunes should be charging $2 to $3.50 for this C- LP. Bet havent sold more that 100 of these at $10.00. As I always say "Released when records contracts were plentiful". Bought this for a .25 at Atomic Records in Denver and that was more than fair. bob, denver, co

I really wish we would have had Visualizer back then. Can you imagine? I still enjoy this album to this day. Ah, it was good to be young.
