This album may not fit your preconceived notion of "music", but to many out there, this is a brilliant piece of musique concrète. Look it up. If you people spent as much time learning and exploring as you did complaining on the Internet, maybe you'd understand it.

This is just plain JUNK. It's such a shame when such an awesome artist just puts out a piece of crap like this just because he is running out of money. VERY disappointing...in no world is this classified as music. Unless you are a pretentious artsy idiot who thinks he or she understands things that other people don't.

"Old Punch Card" is unlike anything else Sam Prekop has done. Across its nine tracks you’ll find zero vocals, no beats, and only one instance of guitar. It was inspired by “early” musique concrète, electronic music and free improv as well as “cartoon” music maker Raymond Scott, Portuguese composer Nuno Canavarro, and David Behrman. While most definitely different from previous outings, it is nonetheless compelling and a worthwhile journey for the listener who has a little more patience that to write it off after one sitting.

I'm a big fan, but... I would have loved to have been in the room when he previewed it for the Thrill Jockey execs.
