I love this entire album from beginning to end, Steerage and the Lamp, is worth more than a few listens. I find myself going back again and again!!

Was first drawn to this group from the song, "Steerage and the Lamp," which is still my favorite. I used to use this music as a professional massage therapist, but recently found it more efficient as a fictional writing tool. I listen to Balmorhea while writing short stories for Creative Writing in College. I wish there was a significantly longer version of "Steerage and the Lamp"!!!! at least 20 minutes, like the song "Djed" from Tortoise.

I have to admit that at first I wasn't sure about this album after falling in love with All is Wild, All is Silent but now it has grown on me and become on of my favorites. It's more subtle than previous albums and this may be overlooked on the first few listens but if you are listening intently you'll notice small creaks in the room, piano keys/pedals, and other soft ambient sounds. Steerage And The Lamp left m awe live!!

I saw them play live at SXSW in Austin last year. They were so good! If you have a chance to see them live don't pass it up!

I recently discovered Balmorhea while looking around on iTunes for new music. I love this album, it hit the right notes for me. Such an interesting collection of sounds and songs, so grounded yet also so emotional. I'm a fan, and will be buying the rest of their music!

Amazing, beautiful, music. Way better than a lot of the popular music of today.
