Its odd that jet didn't include this song on Get Born. This is by far their best developed and most thoughtful song. I wish that they chose to do more songs like this one rather than the direction they took with Shine On. The point is, this is Jet at their best and I hope they do more songs like this one.

This is a very good song and it sounds very suspisiosly close to stand by me by oasis
they have alot of Oasis ripoff hooks,tunes, lyrics, and vocals but there pretty good, in put yer money where your mouth is(another oasis ripoff name) the solo 1:52 in sounds dead on Champange Supernova's solo

Sgt. Major is a great song. I wuld give it a 9.9999999 out of ten! My favorite jet song is still Are You Gonna Be My Girl so if u don't like sgt major concider getting are u gonna be my girl

Great song but it sounds a lot like Go Let It Out By Oasis, there both good songs though.

Besides the fact that the song obviously and effectively borrows from oasis's "go let it out", it is a great song. The different tempo's, while also borrowed, are very effective here, a great rocker

I first heard this song as the opening track on an American Eagle CD. I instantly fell in love with the song from the flowing beat to the vocals. Simply put, this is the greatest song ever made. Ever.
