It would take enhanced interrogation by the KGB for me to recommend these songs.

Tom Morello is an amazing guitarist and I'm easily one of the biggest RATM fans around. However, Morello has no business singing or writing lyrics. For a reviewer to also compare his solo style to the likes of Dylan and Springsteen is just plain shameful. Morello lacks the singing prowess necessary to pull off these songs and this style of music and writing. It's not the content that's the problem, as I support the political stance to which these songs take. However, Morello's singing is so lack of emotion and passion, power, and truth -- such things that Dylan and Springsteen always possessed even though their voices in general were lackluster.

I just want to say how thankful I am that Tom Morello is coming to Madison, WI to stand united in helping protect workers rights and stop our governor from trying to break up unions.

Everybody on here says they were hesitant about picking up this album. I was not. I was excited. That said, you should be wary because it is, indeed, one of the worst things I've had the displeasure of listening to. Do not pick it up at all costs. Don't even preview the songs. You'll just hate yourself for doing it if you choose to see how bad this actually is. Think about it like this: There's a reason Morello was playing the guitar and not singing. This is no Dave Grohl, drummer extraordinaire steps into the limelight and finds success. This album is trash.

I admire Tom Morello greatly for his perseverence and dedication to bringing about justice through music. I love this album, espescially "The Road I Must Travel".
  • Great album all the way through

I too was at first skeptical, as I typically find instrumentalist-turned-solo acts fairly useless. Morello really sets the bar high here, with 13 straight tracks of politically-themed muscle. Top tracks are One Man Revolution, The Road I Must Travel, Maximum Firepower, and No One Left. The acoustic aspect is very well done, not at all forced. I expect great things to come from The Nightwatchman.

I've always been a Rage fan. On this solo record Tom delivers a shot to the establishment. Each song telling a story of the desire for social change. A refermation is at hand. And freedom and equality are just around the corner.

I was kind of skeptical about To Morello doing a accustic album but this was great. It has a really mellow feel and it makes you think that hey, given a proper launch, this guy could rule the charts. But, thank god, he's not a sell out. Power to him.
