Felix comes through yet again. There is a song on this album for everyone! Highlights include "We All Wanna Be Prince" "Kickdrum" "Spank U Very Much" "Do Not Try This At Home" "Elvi$" "LA Ravers"...pretty much every song on this album is awesome. The other tracks that I didn't mention are still great tracks. Five stars, for sure. Gentlemen....buy this album to impress your lady friends. Ladies...just go buy it.

Felix da Housecat's name began as a synonym for electroclash. Like other artists in that genre, he continues to invent new ways to use that love of synth and dance, but on He Was King, we find sparkles of inventiveness and new direction. The album provides musically fun tunes like the lead We All Wanna Be Prince, pounding dance tracks like Elvi$ and LA Ravers, and also gives a hint of a DJ battle weapon like Kickdrum, sure to fill a few floors around the world. But to show that Felix has the musical chops necessary, he is even able to slip in some tunes that show his growth as an artist, like Do Not Try This at Home and the title track He Was King, giving us a hint that there are several directions the genre defining artist could go.
  • FDH Redfining Electro AGAIN

Felix Da Housecat is always reinventing himself to produce cutting edge beats but somehow manages to keep his signature sound. He calls this album pure "pop" and most songs do have some catchy choruses like "We All Wanna Be Prince" and "Spank U Very Much." But there are also some wonderful tracks like "Elvi$" and "Kickdrum" that sound something like a computer dropping acid- and these are the tracks I am most impressed with. This album sets a high bar for electro in 2009.

Love it. My favorite would have to be "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME"... although, "PLASTIK FANTASTIK" is my jam! It's amazing, so unreal!

WOW, 11 albums into his career and Mr. Housecat is still going strong. Although this isn't my favorite LP of his, it's definitely got memorable tracks (Elvi$, LA Ravers). The only thing I'm not extremely fond of in his music style is the somewhat outlandish (ish) female vocals, but other than that, he is an excellent producer who never seems to lose his musical momentum. Props to you Felix.

'LA Ravers' and 'He Was King' are definitely my favourites; a recommended buy. However, even better is FELIX when he DJs live. Just saw him this past weekend - amazing.
