In the middle of “In the Musicals” the “what kind of magic is this” line is Bjork at her most angelic.
  • Fantastic Soundtrack

I was a bit leery of buying this album, primarily because I saw the movie, which was really disturbing. However, several years after I saw the movie, I got this album so that I could re-visit this chapter of Bjork's career. What emerged from this is an album that is a complete departure for Ms. Guðmundsdóttir. The best tracks on the album are "Cvalda" (which uses her signature jerky upbeats, but with machinery), and "I've Seen It All" (Oscar-nominated). I recommend this album to even a passive Bjork fan, as it is a great standalone recording.

I've always been a fan, but i hadn't pulled this album for a while and when i saw it on here it reminded me of it and i pulled it back out. She really did some great work here that I had totally forgotten about. The constructs of the film made her really branch out and because I always think of this album as separate because it's a soundtrack I had forgotten how much innovation she did on these songs. If you are new to Bjork this is a good place to start, her voice is probably at it most strong and the beats are pretty even and not too overpowering like I think Volta is at times, but also are fully rid of her 80's pop star roots that you can still hear in her first two albums.

Never intended on seeing "Dancer In The Dark" but when I did I thought it was great. If you ever get a chance to see the making of it, its well worth it. Soundtrack is pretty awesome too.

A gorgeous soundtrack. The best musical written in the past 10 years.

Amazing musicly and even more lyricly. If you've seen the film the biggest let down on the album is Scatter Heart because the lyrics have completely changed and the emotion in the song is gone. But other than that this album is great. The best song hands down is New World, for it's poetic, larger than life, lyrics and it's vast composition.

Ever since I saw the movie, (which I highly recommend), I've been searching to get ahold of the songs from the soundtrack, so thank you iTunes! That said, this album, while a little eccentric, is nonetheless phenomenal. Bjork isn't for everyone, but this soundtrack integrates many different genres and is truly a great accomplishment. I definitely recommend it as non-traditional, but still profound work of art.
