Reviews

  • Really disappointed in the body of work.

I usually do not pick on someones art. It's like picking on a scab that's not ready to be messed with and it just isn't worth it even though it feels good while you're picking. Afterwords it's just messy and kind of gross. Ted Lennon completely let me down. I thought his affiliations would carry him a lot further than they actually did. This music is as about as uninspired as I've ever heard. I don't think I've ever wanted my 9.99 back more than right now listening to She Don't Care. It sounds like TED don't care. I'm going to go listen to Bob Simpson or well I guess anyone else. I think I just wanted to drop a name of some other artist that wasn't well known but actually talented.

Like most LPs, there's some great stuff and there's also some ok stuff. Concerning JJ's name attached to this LP, he was attached to Ben Harper's hip for a long time before he became commercially successful independently. So perhaps people should buy this LP based on JJ's name. Maybe Ted will become the next blockbuster because of it.

Please, pay the little 9.99 and buy this whole album. Jack Johnson is a great artist, and so is Caillat, but the fact that they're both singing backup to Ted Lennon is just a testament to how great an artist he is alone. His music may not be the poppy, mainstream music that is spoonfed to the masses every second of every day- he might not have all the hooks and riffs that other artists use to compensate for their lack of purpose, but Ted Lennon takes us back to a simpler kind of music. His messages are still about poverty, heartbreak, and loneliness. It's called 'The Blues', and if you forget- it's part of what R&B stands for. Buy the album guys, you won't be disappointed. 5 stars friend, -1 for the akward bass groove on the Dylan song.

I am a huge fan of great lyrics and this album has em in spades! The soulful way Ted writes about heartache and loss is inspiring and I recommend this to any audiophile out there with an appreciation for the poetry of song.
  • Why are these people rating songs?

Well, from an artist and avid music lover, I beleive no one can argue that Ted Lennon is talented. I'm afraid people may read the other reviews, written by people that clearly only listen to mainstream radio and artist that VH1 and MTV tell them to, and think this artist is trying to ride on some other artist success. Please don't do yourself the disservice of buying this album for one song. Buy the album because the cd is its own not an EP with extras.
  • Rating Song With "Jack Johnson"

For those of you attracted to this album because of the so called Jack Johnson cameo, you'll be dissapointed if you buy the single "So In Love" only for that purpose. I listended to it several times and it's honestly difficult to tell wether or not Jack is actually on the song. It kind of sounds like his voice but only on the chorus (maybe it could pass for his voice). Even so, Jack (or Colbie) do NOT actually sing a verse in the song and only seem to appear (singing as a unit) on the hook. Seems like a less than honest attempt to get people to buy this single or album by leveraging both of their recent successes. I feel cheated out of $1.00 as a Jack fan who bought this song only because his name was attatched to it.
