I first heard of these guys from a compilation album - THONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE. They remind me of a local band called THE VOODOO KATZ. Both bands have influence of Island rhythms, African beat and cool jazz.

I recently saw them perform at a packed Santa Monica Pier and filled the stage with band members past and present, including King Cotton in a tribute to Bo Diddley. They put on a high energy show and Mike Tempo does a great job of keeping that energy in their recordings. Waterslide is great fun!

these guys invented world beat; that ska reggae mix that is great party music. I saw them in 1989 and the were fantastic...glad to see them back. Their first album (A Koo de Ta) was excellent.
