  • A Flawless and Magnificent Work of Art

Mark Isham is at his finest with "Next". This soundtrack brilliantly juxtaposes intense strings against the phenomenal action cues. I loved this soundtrack and I loved the movie.

When you've read enough reviews, you get the impression there's a very small number of people who relish the opportunity to criticize an artist's work. They probably live their lives that way and that's gotta be a tough road. But one should not digress at the iTunes store... Mark Isham put a great deal of care and sophistication into this soundtrack and I appreciate the effort. What I particularly enjoy about soundtracks is when they can stand on their own and you do not have to: 1) have seen the movie or 2) recall the movie in order to appreciate the soundtrack. Mark has accomplished that here. Kudos Mark!
  • WORST MOVIE EVER

Not only does the album suck, but the movie sucks more. I went to this movie thinking that it was goin to be great. By the middle i was so tortured by how dumb it was that i wanted to leave. Instead, i gave it another chance and watched the rest because i had such high hopes for it but i was COMPLETELY disapointed....and....THE SOUNDTRACK DOESNT EVEN MATCH WHATS GOING ON IN THE MOVIE. I DONT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL.....i gave it one star because that is the lowest possible. it doesnt even deserve one.

The movie is probably one of the silliest films of 2007, not to mention an unwarranted use of 70 million dollars. The score, sadly, fits the film perfectly. Not only does the score seem to rip off The Bourne Supremacy's percussive strings, but it uses some unnecessary electronics as well. The piano theme is nice, though, it's jarringly out of place amongst the action cues. There’s about twenty or more minutes of music missing from this album, but so much of the music sounds the same that it really doesn't matter.
