I generally don't like these tribute albums, who actually wants to hear a string quartet cover Tool songs? That said, this album is just beautifully well done and I'm not even a big Metallica fan. Never really liked their style, but this album demonstrates that they definitely know how to write a song, and Scott Davis definitely knows how make them beautiful. Good stuff here.

I met Scott in Hawaii back in 2004. I had the honor of watching him perform about 5 feet from his piano at the mall. I sat there and watched his entire set. At first it was just me, but after I turned around, there were dozens of people that had pulled up a chair to do the same. He is simply amazing. I've been a huge fan since and I'm a huge fan of Metallica, since garage days in the 80's and having them together is like heaven to me. Scott you rock!!!!!!
  • The only tribute I can find in which adding vocals is a good idea.

About halfway through Fade to Black, it hit me that I was automatically adding in the vocals I could remeber to all of the songs. Normally, I hate when people whine about there being no vocals in songs, which is something Metallica does frequently with their undoubtably classic instrumentals. This album actually seems to benefit from adding James's pulsing spasms of lyrical genius. If you don't agree, try to find tracks of just vocals and play them along with the piano tracks, unless of course you already know the lyrics. That being said, this is still an fantastic tribute and a highly recommended purchase for any Metallica fan.

this album has truely explored another universe within the Metallica sound that I, for one, find to be completely unique and totally complimentary of the band.

Most tributes make a mockery of the band, but this give Metallica the respect it deserves, unlike that techno Metalliclash. If you like this, check out the S&M Album by Metallica, guarantee you will like it. Thank you Scott D. Davis, and good job.
  • Purely Awesome.

I searched Master of Puppets because I wanted the Metallica version, and I scrolled down just to see what was there. I came across Scott D. Davis and I loved it from the start. He is, without question, the best Metallica cover artist out there. I want to share Scott with all my family and friends. Keep on rockin' Scott.
