Chase the Sunset

This is a smooth collection of great covers and outstanding originals. Bill is a real pro on trumpet and flugelhorn and it shows on the quiet storm classic by the Dramatics "Outside In The Rain" which features the beautiful Chyp Greene with a passionate vocal on the last half of the song. The title cut is a real winner; featuring Tom Reaves on guitar, listen through to the end and you'll feel yourself riding off into the sunset. "I Like The Way You Move" features the outstanding Virginia based Neo Doo Wop group Bak N Da Day, this version is as good as any, including the original by Outkast. "Chill" features smooth jazz star Jim Adkins on guitar; this track is true to the title and has a great soothing feel. Another standout track is "Stop, Look and Listen" with great vocals throughout the frequent modulations near the end, as Professor James Holden performs masterfully on Soprano Sax. “Gold Baby” is fun and funky tune that features James Saxsmo Gates, Tom Reaves and Bill kicking a call and response groove. The Groove is another tight original with Hannon Lane on guitar, Saxsmo on Alto Sax and Bill on Flugelhorn. Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” is another great track and features thirteen year old bass sensation Brandon Lane in his recording debut. The latin groove “Sway” features a great Flute performed by Joe Taylor and a dark and sexy trumpet lead. The version of “What’s Going On” is classic, with a great neo-soul vocal by Joshua Hodari and the CD ends with a spiritual & soulful version of Earth, Wind and Fire’s classic “Keep Your Head To The Sky”, featuring the neo-soul star Shawn Chappelle on vocals. CHASE THE SUNSET is the third solo CD from Bill McGee who is a seasoned professional having recorded with The O’Jays, Pattie LaBelle, The Stylistics, Leon Huff, Angie ”Sequence” Stone, The Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and The Five Blind Boys. Bill has also worked with Lou Rawls, Ray, Goodman and Brown, Klymaxx, Evelyne Champagne King, Robin Eubanks and Fred Wesley.
