If you all LOVE Mishka, check out the Nikhil Korula Band. It's not reggae, but def has some reggae influence plus they just played with Stephen Marley and Dave Matthews Band.

This is some of the best new music I have heard in a long time. Every single track is so chill and mellow but doesnt get boring. Perfect music for summer and for thinking about summer. Told a bunch of friends about him and everyone agrees that this is worth buying.
  • One of the best albums I've ever listened to.

Fantastic, deeply personal music that is as true today as it will be in a hundred years. It does not get a whole lot better than this. Buy it and you will not regret it!

All of the songs are great. If you like international reggae done acoustically, this is one of the best. Heard this CD at a street sale by an independent records shop in Concord NH back in 2001 (Pitchfork Records). Tried to buy it that day but the store was out of it. Took me a long time to track it down, and I finally found it here a few years ago. It is truly a favorite of mine. This is great music which can be described as reggae with a slow beat and haunting vocals. You can hear over and over again. I have played it for several folks who ended up requiring a copy. For what it’s worth my kids love it too, especially the old Joe song (Johanna). Glad he put out a second CD finally.
  • A very personal and beautiful album

His entire debut album carries a subdued, acoustic guitar-driven sound which, combined with his heavily Marley-influenced vocals, make for a nice yet derivative set. At their best, Mishka's songs -- like "Happy," "Lonely," and "Bring a Man Down" -- are hypnotic and compelling in their simplicity. He crafts "hummable" melodies, and his singing is heartfelt. There is a folk-like (and in the case of "One True," blues-like) edge running through Mishka, as only "Lonely" has what you'd consider a typical hiccup-beat reggae rhythm. The rest are dominated by Mishka's acoustic guitar, with light percussion, bass, organ, and/or even harmonica thrown in here and there. His mix of musical styles is certainly a result of his upbringing, being born in Bermuda to Canadian parents who traveled throughout the Caribbean during his childhood.
