  • Mince pie, Christmas Turkey, Hot eggnog and Harry Simeone Chorale

My first Christmas in Vietnam, my kid sister sent me a tape of this album - and it has meant Christmas to me ever since. Harry and his chorale, along with Mom's Mincemeat Tarts, have made every Christmas special, through thick and thin, fat and slim, single or not. It's not fashionable, not "modern" and not sophisticated - but it's all that America once was - and may someday again be, if we can find a way to throw off the demons of terror, materialism, hate and intolerance. Let yourself bask in the innocence of this album, forget your troubles and frustrations, and just enjoy the season. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT !

In our family, this album and Bing Crosby means that Christmas is here. We grew up singing these songs and for us, we went into a search high and low for cd versions of this song. To find it in MP3 format is a godsend. Now the family will have some great memories this year.

I played the original vinyl album until it became obvious it had little life left. At that time I recorded it on a cassette tape and played that every Christmas for years until it was lost. I am thrilledd to re-discover it in the MP3 format as I never could find a CD. As an aside my 83 year old mother prompted this search when she responded with this album when queried on any desires for a Christmas gift. She had given me her copy when I went away to school because I liked it so much. Perhaps she will actually start listening to CDs instead of vinyl.

This is the one and only album I listen to and have listened to since the 80's. The songs are beautiful and always take me back home for the holidays. I highly recommend this album.
