Forgot about this kid from The Voice. Didn't know who this was at first cause it looks like the record company dropped his last name? Looks like it was Corey Kent White. That name I would have recognized right away cause how many people in Country Music have 3 names. It kinda lost him his identity from the Voice. Maybe a little good marketing would help, Sony. One of the better male country vocalists that has shuffled thru the NBC Reality show. Forgot all about him so nice to see iTunes had this EP in visible sight. Get it Sony, out of sight out of mind? Strong powerful vocals with a defining rasp that separates him from most of the male country artists making a bid for the up and comings in that Nashville crowd. You can hear the lyrics come to life giving phonetics its stage, and Mr. Kent's performance is at its best when he digs in and goes full throttle with the purest of rasp on display. Sadly this is just an EP, seems like a step backwards for the kid, To me when an artist does an EP, well its like the first step to Oblivion, its like he's under contract but Sony didn't believe in him enough for a full set? Altho these songs sell Corey well and grateful iTunes had him on display cause it led me to his hidden gem of a album called “From the West” (a 2020 release) and the standout out “Few Good Friends” -an instant defining song for Corey. This set of songs on this should have put him up on the elite list in country music but who knew it existed. Also check out the acoustic single “Gold”. And the Piano version of “Hood of that Car” - well if he had a guest spot on the Voice that song would have been number 1 on the Country charts the next day. This kid needs some good exposure & marketing so country fans know this artistry, these vocals and this talent exists.
