We listened to Jubilant Sykes live (2005 ?) at CalPoly, San Luis Obispo, met his wife and kids at the performance; then bought this record. It is one of the most prized in our collection with soul, spiritual and romantic tracks. There is an emotional context that expands what this artist brings to listeners. You can't put this collection in a box; it will liberate your senses. The jacket notes by Janine Nichols are a great read and a well deserved tribute to Jubilant.

I discovered Jubilant Sykes listening to an interview of him on NPR. I purchased this album on the basis of that interview and was blown away by his range and versatility. Hearing him in concert (for me at the Cerritos Center in California) is powerful. He sings Opera, Broadway, Gospel, and all the songs on this CD with such beauty: that Voice! When meeting him after the concert, I was impressed by his gentle and kind demeanor. This is an exceptional CD that belongs in any eclectic music collection.

Until this last Christmas when he Came and surprised us all!! He has such an incredible voice! So powerful! So precise! His Range is incredible! Never have i heard anyone else who had such control over his Voice! Absolutely Outstanding!!

I just saw this guy perform at Stanford on February 10th and he blew my mind. The preciseness and delicacy with which he uses his voice is ridiculous. If you ever have a chance to see this guy, don't pass it up.
  • Jubilant sings Tom Waits

The reason Jubilant comes up under Tom Waits is because he does a beautiful version of Waits' Take It With Me. But just to make things more confusing, that track is NOT included here and you'll have to seek out the CD to find this gem. I'm a longtime Waits fan...used to see him perform at the Troubador in West Hollywood back in the 1970's. Jubilant couldn't be more different than Waits yet his rendering of this song is drop dead gorgeous and the standout piece on the recording. Too bad it's not included here. Try Jubilant though, he's one of my favorites and even better live.
  • Tom Waits?

Why does this come up under his name? It's not bad though.
  • Jubilant is jubilant!

Jubilant Sykes shows how expansive his talents are. Each song has a very unique feel and Jubilant, with his crystal clear vocals, blends them seemlessly into a pristine compilation. The entire album is enchanting in every way. Jubilant, we are waiting for you to bring us more!!!
