  • A Fantastic Mix

I actually didn't mean to buy this but got tricked by Apple's asking me to re-register. I would highly recomend buying this from a vendor who lets you see the indivdual tracks. And make sure you get 17 tracks on the first disk. All that said... This is truly a fantastic mix. I listen to it constantly while working out. The last quarter of the second disk gives me goosebumps (from the second half of "Cold War" on). Really one of my favorite mixes of all time.

since getting these two discs I haven't listened to anything else...I've been trying trust me, but everytime I listen to these sets, especially disc 2, I hear more beats, more layers, more bass, and its all wonderfully sublime. :) Even as only two tracks, it's worth the purchase.

it seems that everyone that has written a review here has praised james for the music, although james holden has written some fantastic music, he only wrote a couple of tracks on this album! "lump" and "10101" both from the album, "the idiots are winning." James Holden is literally at the controls on this album - in other words he is DJing! and does a great job. Of course, as one reviewer stated, some of the music on "at the controls" would remind the listener of of aphex twin - two of the tracks on the second cd are by richard d. james (aka: Aphex Twin, and APX)! I bought a hard copy of this cd and the tracks are split up as they should be and the other artists are given credit as they should be. Look this album up somewhere else until iTunes sells it in the proper format.

Come on Itunes, break up the tracks...! People want the option of the continuos mix and the ability to skip ahead to certain tracks we like!

Big James Holden fan, loved Balance, but just couldn't feel it with this one. I guess there's a stretch on the second CD (but since it doesn't have track names I couldn't tell you) that engages me, but otherwise, I'm probably not going to play it much. Sorry....

dig ambient and chill music, and am somewhat familiar with Holden's work, but was totally skeptical of a full length album....damn, this is mad!!!

It seems as though, every time I settle in James Holden's style or techniques into some interesting category, I always get blown away by how much different his very next project will be. And "ATC" is no different! I very much enjoyed his last double CD mix ("Balance 05"), and really thought that its was going to be next to impossible to beat my impression of the mixes. The mellow and downright lazzy sounds from both sides are accompanied by sometimes very progressive and break-worthy deterred beats. It's the first time his music actually creeped me out as well as made me feel warm inside at the same time. His unique blend of hack, slap and kick mixing is one of a kind. Beautifully arranged, with a track selection even I couldn't beat! Fantastic mate, keep on rockin'... [-Charlie May]

This is the first album i've ever heard of James Holden. I must say its pretty chill. It's got some sick bass lines and breaks. It reminds me of Aphex Twin. This album was definitly not what I was expecting, but it isn't a bad album if you enjoy ambient/electro house. I'm gonna have to agree with tranz on the fact that the lack of single tracks makes the album feel incomplete.

Whats the purpose of this awesome cd if we can't even play track by track.
