"Mirror" should be seen as a concept album. Recent events have given us a chance to "reflect" and at the same time, things have been confusing, like Alice going through the looking glass. The lyrics deal mostly with this confusion, and some painful results, but also optimism. The songs flow smoothly from one to the next, and seem connected even though they have different styles. I hear hints of Beatles, Oasis, Squeeze, and even Joe Cocker, but it's still definitely a Scandal album. There are "wall of sound" moments that are really transcendent. There are melodies that will get stuck in your head for days. English translations of the lyrics are easy to find online, so don't let that stop you from getting an album from what I consider one of the all-time GREAT rock bands.
