I’ve always loved this band. I was skeptical they’d return after so long with a good album but was I ever surprised! This is one of their best album yet! So many great songs.

This album is fantastic. Not quite as punk as their really early stuff and not quite as polished as their albums at the height of their popularity but an incredible mix of both. They still have the power and the passion. Some of these songs would fit perfectly on some of their best albums. Definitely in my top 5 Midnight Oil albums and I’m familiar with all of them. Plus bonus points for how surprisingly great at this point of their career. Bones is missed on bass but the style here reckons back to their even earlier hard-hitting style. Yes, it’s overtly political, but they have always been. Even when I disagree politically, I respect their deep sense of having values. Their previous release had some good stuff but it wasn’t the great blend of all classic periods of classic Oils.

i am a fan of this band going all the way back to Red Sails in The Sunset, back when you could only get the earlier stuff on import, there was no WWW or streaming back then. That said: this album is hard to sum up. The music is great. The band have never sounded better, in fact, which is truy amazing after all this time. For a man his age, Peter Garrett is in top form, his vocals are amazing and passionate. Mind blowing, even. That brings us to the bugaboo: whereas in the past, Peter's lyrics were full of passion and had incredible storytelling and poignancy and human relateability, now they are so trite as to border on parody. I actually laughed out loud at his metaphors for some of them, and not in a flattering way. It's like someone gave him a literal list or memo of 21st century Progressive, globalist talking points, and said: 'Make these into songs.'. Again. Life long fan. But I can't listen to this amazing and very unexpected music when it is riddled with such infantile platitudes and buzzwords. Midnight Oil's lyrics should not be this easily reducable to Twitter hashtags. Very disappointing, and it totally destroys what could have been an absolutely *incredible* piece of work. Really, really too bad. I will stick with the stuff up to and including, 'Capricornia' or 'rRed Neck Wonderland', which I thought were shamefully underrated.
  • Fantastic! Will make you get up and dance!!!

I lost touch w/ these guys since app. 1990 but this album brings it all back! They are the Australian Rolling Stones but more sophisticated. Get ready to dance!

They basically waste time writing songs about the climate change nonsense ? News flash.....the climate has been changing for over 4.5 billion years, ice age to meltdown, back to ice, back to hot, etc. All without the benefit of burning fossil fuels. So now these Einstein's think that human beings burning fossil fuels for like a century out of over 5 billion years is going to bring down the planet ???? If they would take a step back and listen to what they are saying they would realize how stupid they sound. Instead they just eat and swallow what their government masters tell them. They don't exactly sound like rebels anymore, do they ? Now they sound like they are part of the machine that is made up of government control freaks. Just the thing that these "rebels" used to abhor. Now they have become what they once hated. But who cares, as long as they pander and virtue signal.....that's all that matters to these clowns. No more burning the "midnight oil", their fire has just gone out.
  • Thank you Midnight Oil

Just an outstanding album! So glad they are back. Every song on this album is excellent, not a weak song in the batch. Emotional, political, heart felt and well played. My favorite of 2022 so far. I hope these guys keep recording, the world needs this kind of music.
  • Glad they’re back and even better!
