  • An eclectic, colorful experience

Wagakki Band's most recent album has something for everyone, from soft sorrowful ballads to epic power metal. The flip side of this is that every track is unlikely to be to everyone's liking. There's definitely a feeling that they're going for a more mass-market appeal with this offering, but there are still plenty of wonderfully creative experiments and heavier sounds. The combination of a 3-piece rock band and 4 Japanese traditional instruments give them endless possibilities to explore, and Yuko Suzuhana's impressive vocals provide a steady foundation. Favorite Tracks: Ignite: A brilliant metal-inspired song with rapping and shigin vocals Sakura Rising: An incredible collaboration between two world-class vocalists borrowing some of Evanescence's trademark sound Tokyo Sensation: A manic high-energy vocaloid-style song with a relentlessly catchy melody Eclipse - A powerful dark rock ballad befitting the name with a haunting chorus
