    I've been listening to traditional front porch blues since 1960. Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Muddy, you name it. This guy is great. I'm so thankful that this legacy has been saved for us. I'm adding a whole bunch of his recordings, with many thanks to Mississippi Fred, the people who made the original recordings, and to Apple iTunes for providing them here for us to discover.

    If the reviewer believes that Fred McDowell "wasn't a great guitarist" I would love to hear his versions of Fred's repertoire. He is every bit the equal of Son House, Bukka White and Robert Johnson.
