Unpopular opinion but this is the best FOB album, coming from someone who has been listening since 6th grade
  • I don’t hate pop fob, but I hate this

Best song of the album. Really makes the album imo. Incredible instrumental and unique vocals. Young and Menace is incredible!

Took me a moment to warm up to it back when it was released, but now it has some of my most favorite songs in it. FOB has variety and that’s a good thing.
  • Took a bold new direction, but...

...only went halfway. I know I’m in the minority here, but I really like the edm-pop-synth-punk stuff on this album like Young and Menace, and SFRMT, I think a whole album in that style would’ve been killer. But that’s not exactly what this is, half the songs on here are either just kind of half-baked pop tracks (like Sunshine Riptide and Heaven’s Gate) or retreads of what the band has done better before (Champions). I’m not sure whether the album was always gonna be like this or these were the result of the last minute changes made to the album after the fanbase hated Y&M as the first single, but while I do enjoy this album and respect it for taking more risks than FOB usually does, I can’t shake the feeling this could’ve been way more interesting.
  • One of my Favorite Albums

This album takes a tour through the highs and lows of summer and mania. It is spectacular, and a story of those of us who are much different from the majority of people who lead simple lives.

i think plenty of people are being hyperbolic in either direction with this album. for the haters, i agree that some of these tracks are plain bad, like “young and menace” and “champion”. the former has really messy and unappealing production while the latter feels like the ultimate culmination in lazy stadium pop rock, a trend they started with light 'em up and centuries but has reached its rock bottom here. however, there are still some great songs and at least moments here, like last of the real ones, stay frosty, wilson, church, and the very beginning of heaven’s gate. hold me tight is a very solid song as well. finally, sunshine riptide and bishop’s knife trick are alright, but by fall out boy standards would’ve been the worst ones off this album had it not been for the ones i mentioned earlier. had champion and young and menace been cut and replaced with the songs on the lake effect kid ep, i think this album would be 4 stars easily, and much more in line with post hiatus fall out boy quality wise, but as is this isclearly their worst project yet
  • I’m obsessed
