  • I remember CHIC when......,

I am a TRUE fan of Chic. Back from 1977. Le Freak, I want your love were the JAMS!!! I have all their productions. Bernard and Thompson are missing (God bless them) and you can’t recreate that sound. But to show you why this album is NOT the true CHic sound, I challenge you to listen to their 1992 album titled “Chic”, prior to Bernard’s passing and you’ll see what I mean. True Chic sound but changed to fit the 1992 times. Nile, with his trademark guitar riffs that we true fans know and remember could have done the same here but Instead he makes a boring Pop album with no memorable sounds. “State of Mind” is the only best thing on this album and there are no lyrics. Check out their 1992 album and you’ll dance all day. Also has a couple of love ballads. Bonjour!...

This album makes "CHIC Mistique" seem like a masterpiece!! Nile most likely took some bad advice from his manager this time around and attempted to go completely top 40 pop crap, complete with crap pop vocalists. Why are most of my musical heroes completely dropping the ball these days? The only decent thing on the album is "State of Mine", and it's an INSTRUMENTAL! (a great one at that) Please do an extended mix of THAT song and put it on a 12" for us, you can keep the rest.
  • Not that great...

Redoing "I want your love" with Lady Gaga is just not working. She sounds overtly theatrical, and bland. When you do a cover you have to own it. She does not "own it". Not sure what Nile had in mind but to make more $$$ selling out his own music. Alfa Anderson was a real singer and Chic was the BEST of thier generation. Lady Gaga is no Alfa Anderson.

Highlights: State of Mine, I Want Your Love Lowlights: Pretty much everything else is unremarkable and generic. Way too many collaborations here. Not the Chic album I was hoping for. Also, what happened to I'll Be There? That song is better than any of these songs besides IWYL.

State of Mine is the only track that resembles CHIC. The rest is commercial mass market garbage. Tragic.

When I first glanced at the album cover, I immediately though of the band Roxy Music. But then I thought "what a great album cover". When the vinyl format is released, I will buy it and frame the album cover. That is a GREAT album cover! The music is allright ...but that album cover. That's the Black Hanna Montana...love is the drug for me.

Each track made me want to listen to the entire song. Maybe I am nostalgic but this is good.

Great album. I Want Your Love is a certifiable bop.
  • I'll pass on this one

'State Of Mind' is the only thing that reminds me of CHIC; the rest of this album is noisy collaborations. I know things change, but this just sounds like any other pop album. And there's one song that has explicit lyrics? Why? 'CHIC-ISM' was and is the better effort. Listen to that if you want that CHIC sound
