sounds a bit louder and a tiny bit better than the original release, but still a muddy mess in the bass. if you have the originall 1988 recording then don't waste your money on this release.

No bass at all. No wonder Newkid eventually left.
  • Still a tinny piece of crap

There is no other reason to re-release this album other than to actually re-mix the thing and bring Jason's bass tracks into the fold. Short of that, it's the same album that sounds like it was recorded in a bag of nails. A cash grab - nothing more.

    No bass
  • Remastered does not equal Remix

People need to stop complaining that the bass is still gone, however I do agree that this album needed a remix. I still think it’s Metallica’s best album though.
  • Great Improvement but still lacks Jason’s bass

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it’s has more bass..but still lacks Jason’s bass like other Metallica albums. Overall it’s definitely worth the $25 there asking. The demos alone would have been a $30-$40 import cd 25 years ago at Tower Records. The remaster overall is truly Awesome! I compared the old vs the remastered versions side by side on a pair of Noise Canceling Bose Headphones on a IPhoneXs. There’s a HUGE difference of sound quality. Especially in the intro, “To Live Is To Die.” The standard version, the guitars sound over-blended together. The remastered version you can almost tell each guitar apart! Hope this helps, Neil
