Love her voice, but mostly I just realized I was somehow missing her version of I Feel for You. In my opinion, it is the ONLY cover of any Prince-authored song (and there are a whole lot of them) that is superior to his original. That's high praise from a 35+ year Prince devotee. Buy it!

I was going through my Itunes and looking at Chaka Khan songs and noticed I was missing this other hit from her 1985 I Feel For You Album...The other hits were "I Feel For You" and "Through the Fire"..great song to add to your Itunes Collection.
An undisputed classic

While this album has both feet firmly planted in the '80s, it holds up beautifully and is a fantastic testament to what was great about R&B in that decade.

C. I. T. A. -- she declares this anagram on track 9, "Caught in the Act" -- and so she was -- I remember waiting for this one. The title track is great, but as a collection, this is just as good as pop records get -- listening some 25 years later -- there is nothing dated about this set of songs -- it's just pure Chaka --naked and true!!
Yeah....but.....

This album is interesting because it is groundbreaking. Chaka and Arif Mardin created music that was relevant to the streets and hip-hop and at the same time true to traditional R&B vocals. This album was the first of it's kind to mix samples, rap, funk and r&B so well. Commercially some of the songs were more artistically experimental than radio friendly, however, ballads like "Through The Fire" and "Stronger Than Before" are worth the album alone. Anyone who loves an excellent vocalist and is willing to really listen to an artist at play should buy this album.
This was avant garde the way it sampled underground New York Hip Hop sounds and Beats of its time. Digital, Electronic.Chaka. I can see people in the Bronx or Brooklyn breakdancing to some of these beats and the people in Manhattan sweating to the smash "I Feel For You" in the top clubs Garage or Shelter. This is nostalgic and vital. Check it out.
