I've been looking all over for classic Linda Clifford and here she is on iTunes. I haven't heard Shoot Your Best Shot in ages and the versions of Runaway Love that I already had never reached 9:48. I remember Don't Give It Up also and that is a classic Disco/House jam. Oh, and Linda didn't fade into obscurity after the Disco era. She transitioned. She's been jamming with some of House/Dance Music's top producers including Davidson Ospina, Ralphi Rosario, Joey Negro, and Blaze for years. One of her recent cuts, What U Like, stays in my House playlists. You never know when Linda is going to bust out with another banger. This lady is a true diva and you can feel it whenever you listen to her. If you like the real thing, this is the cd for you.
  • Gems from an Underrated Disco Diva

Linda Clifford had a short-lived career as the resident disco diva for Curtis Mayfield's Curtom Records label. The beautiful Miss Clifford wraps her poweful voice over meaty lyrics and hot soulful disco rhythms. On "Runaway Love" and "Don't Give It Up", she throws in clean, humorous Millie Jackson-like monologues about no-good men. The only two flaws here are the campy disco remake of "If My Friends Could See Me Now" and the fact that her dance version of Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water", which was her biggest pop hit (#41), is not here.

What a pleasant surprise! Instantly, my whole day became brighter when I saw Linda Clifford's name on the new release list. Listening to "Don't Give Up" and "Runaway Love" took me back to my hgh school and college years in Chicago. Thank you, thank you, thankyou. I am tearing the living room floor up!!!!!!!!!! :)
