Request for Celebrities to Denounce Ineffective Governance

Rapper Vector Tha Viper has voiced his concerns about Nigerian celebrities engaging in politics, urging them to reconsider their support for certain politicians. As more celebrities publicly align themselves with political figures, Vector expressed his disappointment in those who appear to be disconnected from the struggles of their fans and fellow citizens.

He warned that if the prevailing challenges of hardship and inadequate governance persist in the country, celebrities may also eventually bear the brunt of the consequences. Through his social media platform, Vector advised celebrities to rethink their associations with political figures and prioritize the welfare of the people they stand for.

Using his social media presence, Vector stated: “To the celebrities siding against the harsh reality faced by their own people/fans, it would be wise to reconsider before you become the sole recourse if the hardship persists. Cease supporting ineffective governance.”

His message coincides with ongoing protests nationwide against the widespread difficulties experienced by many Nigerians. Comedian Nasboi previously disclosed his decision not to participate in the nationwide protest.

Despite receiving numerous threats for endorsing Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election, Nasboi made it clear that he would not join the protest. He revealed his unpleasant experience and the threats he received for supporting a political candidate. Nasboi emphasized that many celebrities do not profit from politics as some fans might assume.

“Me, protest? Lol. The last time I spoke up, I faced threats to my life. I shared the threatening messages on Twitter, and people laughed. Many celebrities do not financially benefit from politics as you suggest. It’s just the fear of being a scapegoat.”
