Nigerian musician, Rema, also known as Divine Ikubor, made waves with his appearance at the wedding of Anant Ambani, the son of Mukesh Ambani, one of India’s wealthiest individuals, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical magnates Viren and Shaila Merchant.
There were reports circulating that Rema received a hefty payment of $3 million (approximately N4.5 billion) for his performance at the event. In a recent interview with GRM Daily, the singer shared his reflections on the experience, although he neither confirmed nor denied the specific amount he was allegedly paid.
When questioned about the rumored $3 million fee, Rema chuckled and said:
“Hehehe, that is all I can say to be honest. Financially, it was a great achievement, and the experience was beautiful. I love India, and India loves me too. It feels amazing to benefit from something that people once trolled and criticized me for. It’s a testament to not giving up despite the negativity. Four years later, it paid off big time.”
