Olamide’s latest album, “Ikigai,” has made history on Spotify with the highest number of streams in its opening week. The album accumulated an impressive 7.92 million streams during its debut week, surpassing Shallipopi’s “Shakespopi,” which had 5.7 million streams. This achievement marks Olamide’s most successful opening week on Spotify Nigeria, beating the 5.8 million streams from his previous album, ‘Unruly,’ released in 2023.
Notably, “Ikigai” also set a record for the highest number of streams on its first day with 1.86 million streams, further solidifying Olamide’s position as one of Africa’s most accomplished rappers. The album features collaborations with artists such as Asake, Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Sabri across its 7 tracks.
